Sister Alexandra Contos is originally from Colorado, and is a proud convert, having embraced Islam in 2000. Since then she's been learning about the sciences of Islam, and getting involved in community work - nonprofits, youth groups & masjids.

She spent some time abroad with her family living in Saudi Arabia & then Cape Town, South Africa where she & her husband Ryan started getting actively involved in with Madina Institute. Her family then moved to Atlanta to work with Madina on this side of the Atlantic.

Aside from her work in graphic design & marketing, she is also an avid student of Quran recitation, particularly Tajweed, and is currently studying the Riwaya of Hafs 'an 'Asim under Al-Qari Shaykh Abdullah Deeb of Itqaan Institute, from whom she received Ijaza to teach as well.
